This month’s name comes from Latin octo and Greek ôctō (as in octagon and octopus) meaning “eight,” because this was the eighth month of the early Roman calendar.
October’s full Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, arrives on Wednesday, 20th October 2021.
October is a Black history month – an annual awareness campaign to highlight African and Caribbean history and heritage, and to promote a greater understanding of the UK’s diverse cultural heritage. There is a wide range of events across the country.
